Easy peanut chutney

South Indian peanut chutney also known as palli chutney, groundnut chutney, or moongphali ki chutney is a quick and easy side dish perfect to be served with South Indian breakfast dishes like idli, dosa, vada, or paniyaram.

Step 1: Collect the recipe ingredients.

Step 2: Heat oil in a pan. Add peanuts and roast for 4-5 minutes or until they change the color and become fragrant. Transfer the roasted peanuts to a bowl.

Step 3: In the same pan, put some roughly chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until they start turning brown. Add dried red chilies and cumin seeds. Saute for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4: Add a small tamarind piece and sauté for a minute. Add asafoetida and sauté for a few seconds.

Step 5: Add salt, mix, and switch off the stove. Allow the mixture to reach room temperature.

Step 6: Transfer the onion mix to a grinding jar.

Step 7: Add water.

Step 8: Make a paste. Transfer to a serving bowl.

Step 9: Heat oil in a pan. Break dried red chilies into smaller pieces and add to the oil along with urad dal and mustard seeds. Saute until the urad dal starts turning brown.

Step 10: Add curry leaves and sauté for about a minute.

Step 11: Pour the mixture over chutney. Your peanut chutney is ready to be served.
