Step 1: Collect the recipe ingredients.

Step 2: Mix rice and lentils. Rinse and soak in water for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3: Heat some oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and black mustard seeds. Let the seeds splutter.

Step 4: Add asafoetida and curry leaves. Saute for around 10 seconds.

Step 5: Add chopped onion and cook until it starts turning brown.
