Step 1: Collect the recipe ingredients.

Step 2: Wash black-eyed peas. Soak in water for 7-8 hours.

Step 3: Put soaked beans in a pressure cooker with water and salt. Cook till 4-5 whistles on a medium flame.

Step 4: Make a paste of onion, ginger, and garlic using a grinding jar.

Step 5: Make a separate paste of tomato and green chilies.

Step 6:  Heat oil in a pan. Add whole spices and sauté for a few seconds.

Step 7: Add onion paste and cook until it turns golden brown.

Step 8: Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and crushed kasoori methi along with 1-2 tablespoons of water. Saute for a few seconds.

Step 9: Add tomato paste and salt.

Step 10: Cook for a few minutes i.e. until the tomatoes are no longer raw.

Step 11: Add cooked beans and the water in which they were cooked. Cook for 6-7 minutes.

Step 12: Add garam masala and chopped cilantro. Mix.
