What's Pina Colada
Pina Colada is a tropical drink invented by a Bartender at Caribe Hilton in 1954 at San Juan, Purto Rico. In 1978 it got declared as the official drink of Purto Rico.
The literal meaning of Pina Colada is strained Pineapple.
The original recipe uses rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. Even the ratio of these ingredients was fixed. However, with time different versions and ratios started getting used in the recipe. A lot of people now use coconut milk instead of coconut cream. You too can adjust it as per your taste preference.
The popularity of this drink can be guessed from the fact that the 10th of July is celebrated as the National Pina Colada Day in the US.
Virgin Pina Colada
The alcohol-free version of Pina Colada is called Virgin Pina Colada. So, even if you don't consume alcohol or avoiding it for some time, you can still enjoy the virgin version of this drink. Since there is no alcohol in it, kids can enjoy it too.
It's a perfect drink for your summer parties.
