Variation suggestions

These delicious energy balls are highly customizable and with some minor changes you can make them to suit your taste or dietary preferences:

  1. Medjool dates are considered to be the best dates for energy balls because of their rich sweetness and softness which helps in binding things together. However, living in Dubai I have tried them with different date varieties and I equally loved them all. So, use whichever date you have.
  2. If you are allergic to peanuts, use almond or any other nut butter. You can also skip roasted peanuts or use any other nut of your choice.
  3. Instead of peanut butter, you can also use tahini.
  4. Add a combination of different nuts and seeds to make it crunchier and healthier.
  5. You can also use dried berries of your choice to these energy balls.
  6. Chocolate lovers may also add chocolate chips after taking out the dough from the food processor.
  7. To make the balls more presentable roll them over cocoa powder, coconut flakes, finely chopped nuts, or chocolate sprinkles.

How to store?

Store these balls in an airtight container. They will be fine on the countertop for 4-5 days. In the fridge, you can store them for 10-12 days, and for a longer period (2-3 months), store them in the freezer.

Thank you, this is a great recipe that can be tweaked and still be amazingly yummy and satisfying! I use whatever dried fruit I have on hand, mix and match nut butters and nut powders, & more or less cocoa, depending on my craving.

I am back to say, my favorite way to eat these, is straight out of the freezer! β€οΈπŸ˜‹β€οΈ Also, I roll them in a mixture of nut meal and ground oats, so that they are less sticky, and easier to separate from the freezer. Thanks again, I am making my 3rd batch!

Date energy balls are a winner any time.. so healthy and yet a wonderful treat. Thanks for reminding me about these energy balls. Have been wondering what to make that is sweet and yet healthy. Forgot about date energy balls. Using peanut butter is a better option than dairy butter.
