Collages of images of steps 1 to 6 of frozen berries cobbler.

Step 1: Place a butter stick in a baking dish.

Step 2: Put the dish in the oven while it's getting preheated. Take out the dish and transfer the melted butter to a bowl. Keep it aside.

Step 3: Spread the frozen berries in that same baking dish.

Step 4: Shake the cake mix pack and spread the mix on top of the berries.

Step 5: Pour the melting butter over the cake mix.

Step 6: Bake in a preheated oven at 180℃ (or, 350℉) for around 35- 40 minutes or until the cake top gets golden brown patches.

Your simple and easy cobbler with frozen berries is ready to be served.

Serving frozen berries cobbler

Serve this mixed berries cobbler warm or at room temperature. I feel it tastes better warm.

The best way to enjoy it is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can also pair it up with cream or Greek yogurt.

Storing and reheating

Store the leftover cobbler in the fridge for up to 5 days.

To reheat, microwave for about a minute or until heated well.

Otherwise, transfer the cobbler to a baking dish, cover the dish with an aluminum foil, and put it in the oven. Heat covered at 180℃ (or 350℉) for around 20 minutes or until heated well.

Recipe tips, tricks, and variation suggestions

  • You can use a single variety of berries or any other fruit in this recipe.
  • This delicious cobbler can be made with fresh or canned berries too.
  • Use only vanilla or lemon cake mix to make this cobbler.
  • Shake the pack of cake mix well or take it out in a bowl and whisk before spreading it over the berries.
  • You can also make individual-size cobbler in oven-safe ramekins, instead of making one large cobbler.

Frequently asked question

Do I need to thaw the berries before using them in this recipe?

No, you can directly use the frozen berries.

I wish I knew the secret of getting all the cake mix dampened with the butter. I sifted the cake mix over the berries so it was even and I tried really hard to get the butter evenly distributed but there were still some dry spots. It seems that all the Dump Cake recipes have this problem so hoping someone has a trick!
Having said that, I took this to a church Potluck and everyone loved it! It didn't stop them from eating it up and actually commenting. I will definitely keep this and make it again! Thank you.
